We made it!By Jen Nigro, Coordinator of Volunteers
We made it! I don’t know if this summer set the record for absences, but it sure felt like it. With 92 spots to fill between radio broadcasts and Telephone Reader, plus special request absences (and that’s just August!) we had our work cut out for us. But you all came through, and not a single opening went unfilled. The response we get to our calls for substitute readers never ceases to amaze me. Making sure our broadcast day is full of fresh material is of the utmost importance, and you come through every time. We couldn’t provide the amount of programming we do without each and every one of you. A big thanks to all of you for stepping up to the plate this summer to help. Many of you tried something new; many of you read materials you didn’t necessarily enjoy; and many of you learned new recording systems and online reading on the fly. No matter how you helped, whether it was through your regular reading assignment or taking on some extra, all of you made a difference in the lives of our listeners. Thank you for your continued dedication to making the printed word accessible. |
