Record collectors and music lovers are sure to find something special at this year’s “For Your EARS Only” audio-sale, a benefit for Audio-Reader Network. “For Your EARS Only” will take place from on the third weekend in September, in building 21 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2120 Harper in Lawrence.
The $10 entry fee for Friday evening includes free food, prizes and first dibs on records, CDs and audio-equipment. Advance $7 tickets for Friday will be available at Audio-Reader, 1120 W. 11th St. in Lawrence. Admission is free on Saturday.
Inventory will include vinyl LPs, CD’s, and an impressive array of vintage and modern audio equipment. Most records will be sold for $1 and CDs will be sold for $3. Audio equipment will sell for bargain prices. All items sold at “For Your EARS Only” have been donated by generous members of the Lawrence, Kansas City and Topeka communities. Donations for the sale will be accepted from May 2012-September 12, 2012. "Even if you go in with just 10 bucks in your back pocket, you’ll still walk out with some nice stuff," said Nick Spacek, program director for KU’s student-run radio station KJHK. "I’ve found a lot of oddball compilations, some sealed Roger Miller records and scads of CDs that would otherwise cost me an arm and a leg. If you want to rub shoulders with hipsters, record dealers and nerds, it’s certainly the place to be."
