Telephone Reader
Telephone Reader allows blind and other print-impaired persons to use their telephones to listen to readings of daily newspapers and TV Guide listings. Some newspapers are read out loud by volunteers, and some are computer files which are read by a standard synthesized voice.
The listener can call the system at any time, select the publication, listen to headlines, and select individual stories, all using the touch-tone keys on the telephone. Pressing keys can also skip forward or backward in the text, adjust the reading speed and volume, and when listening to synthesized text, spell words and change voices.
If you are an individual, interested in listening to the Kansas City Star, TV Guide, Topeka Capital Journal, and selected Audio-Reader programs, visit the Lions Telephone Reader page.
