Audio-Reader Services


The Audio-Reader Network is an audio information service for blind, visually impaired, and print disabled individuals in Kansas and western Missouri. 

Services are offered free of charge to any individuals who have difficulty reading standard print due to vision loss, physical or learning disability, mobility challenges, and age.

  • Radio Reading

    Audio-Reader's radio broadcast is available 24 hours a day online and via a specially tuned radio that is loaned free of charge to all eligible individuals.

  • Telephone Reader

    The Lions Telephone Reader is an on-demand dial-up information system that allows listeners to access recordings over the telephone.

  • Audio Description

    Audio description makes live theater and other events accessible through on-site description by trained volunteers.

  • Special Requests

    Content is available by request for eligible individuals who are unable to read standard printed material or cannot access information through other services.

  • Sensory Garden

    A unique attraction on the grounds of the Baehr Audio-Reader center, the Sensory Garden is filled with flowers, herbs, and accessories to delight the senses.
