Temporary Program Associate

Audio-Reader/Kansas Public Radio, Lawrence, KS

Audio-Reader and Kansas Public Radio is searching for a temporary Program Associate during March 2024 to provide front desk and administrative support, including greeting volunteers and guests, answering phones and questions, assisting with the studio spaces, and managing inventory and office supplies.

Job Description

65% - Front Desk/Administrative Support

  • Provide front desk administrative support for Audio-Reader and Kansas Public Radio, Mon-Fri, 8am to 1pm.
  • Greet volunteers and guests; answer questions from in-persons guests; assist with deliveries, donations and other walk-in inquiries.
  • Answer multiple phone lines, directing callers to the appropriate individual, taking messages, and/or answering various questions about A-R and KPR.
  • Open the Baehr Audio-Reader Center; prepare studio and volunteer spaces for operations; manage the coffee bar including maintaining supplies, making coffee and cleaning as needed.
  • Assist KPR/A-R Admin Associate in sorting and distributing incoming mail; monitor office supply levels for multifunctional device and mail machine, and report needs to KPR/A-R Admin Associate.

30% - Studio and Program Support

  • Assist Program Manager in daily operations and program duties, as needed.
  • Edit and import programs for broadcast and for digital delivery. Monitor audio signal for broadcast issues.
  • Coordinate studio scheduling; process volunteer cancellations; move studio slots as needed; process and assign volunteer requests for studio time.
  • Assist Coordinator of Volunteers in handling volunteer absences; note changes on studio schedule and broadcast log; communicate with volunteer and program staff as required.

5% - Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  1. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software products as evidenced by application materials.
  2. Strong attention to detail as evidenced in application materials

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Previous experience working in an administrative/office setting
  2. Knowledge of sound editing software as evidenced by application materials.
