Hannah Loub and Molly Adams from The Lawrence Times attend Arts Accessibility Forum
The second convening of the Arts Accessibility Forum was held on Wednesday, January 28. Attendees enjoyed a fun and informative movement activity led by Lied Center's Education Director Hanan Misko. From the University of Kansas Department of Architecture & Design, Associate Professor Nilou Vakil and graduate student Alayna Thomas presented about their work on inclusive design which led to engaging conversations and discussions about adding accessibility features to current arts establishments. And Dr. Joel Snyder from the Audio Description Project stopped by over Zoom to get the crowd excited about audio description and promote the March training opportunity.
Audio-Reader wants to thank the staff at The Lied Center of Kansas for hosting especially Ellie Wallace and Kate Lorenz for arranging the speakers and Courtney Bierman and Renee Huey for helping us get the room and Zoom setup in the Pavilion. Thank you to Nick Carswell, Audio-Reader Program Manager, for leading the event and Outreach Coordinator Martha Kehr for her work organizing the event.
