Since 2018, Audio-Reader listeners have heard the melodic voice of Dee Dee Eccles through her role as a volunteer reader. One of her monthly assignments is The Leaven, the "official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas."

On February 28, The Leaven featured Dee Dee as the "Voice behind The Leaven." The article chronicles her journey from teacher to stay-at-home mom to becoming an Audio-Reader volunteer.
