September Audio Sale a Big Hit at the Lawrence Library

In partnership with the Lawrence Public Library, Library Friends & Foundation (LPLFF), KPR, KJHK, and KKFI, Audio-Reader held an excellent audio equipment sale on Saturday, September 13. It was a hot, late-summer day, but that didn't stop crowds of people from flocking to the back of the library to find deals on high-end stereo equipment, speakers, vinyl records, cassette tapes, and related audio equipment - all while supporting Audio-Reader.

The fundraiser brought in over $11,000! All proceeds go directly to supporting Audio-Reader and the mission of sharing the gift of sight through sound.

The continued success of these audio equipment sales would not be possible without the tireless efforts of our sale volunteers. We appreciate every person who took time out of their schedules to prepare for the sale, load up the day before, set out equipment, show up the day of to help shoppers, and the people who cleaned up afterwards. Three key volunteers form our team of equipment experts - Ed Hawkins, Douglas May, Gordon Fitch - they truly go above and beyond all year with extra effort and time dedicated for weeks leading up each sale. And their work doesn't stop there! Post-sale, they continue to work with the community to help connect people to the audio equipment that will improve their home listening experience.

We also thank the local community for coming out to check out the sale, shop, and chat with staff and volunteers. Lawrence and the surrounding area is filled with kind-hearted, civic-minded citizens. Audio-Reader staff and listeners are filled with gratitude for the generosity from our community. The marvelous support allows us to keep our programming free of cost to listeners and funds our efforts to expand our content and keep up with the demands of ever-changing technology.
